I am talkin about their work saddle, which is very similar to the Smoke jumper.

So yes and no.

I have both. I use the work saddle for everything, and the smoke jumper (I got in today) if for some girls that like to rec climb.

The smoke jumper is fine. Get it, or the work saddle, I like the work saddle because that is what I use.

Also get their (sherrill's) ditty bag also, it is great. I had alot of junk in there and I love it alot. I put it on the ring on the left under my lanyard. I like it alot!!

It's a style thing. If you hang with all your weight on your saddle mostly, you'll like the bosen seat. If you mostly climb around and need fexability, leg straps work better. The butt strap saddles are both restrictive and uncomfortable to hang in, so skip that option.

Neither, just tell the sales person that you want the (work saddle) work saddle, and tell them it is yellow (Smoke jumper is green). Then give them the size you want, and make sure that it is the yellow one.

I would also get:
Ditty Bag: 27437 $25
optional, but I love mine: Paw 26269 $40

LJ, Please post pics of your set up for double tie in. You mentioned the usage of petzl swivel and paw in a previous post,,, What are you using to connect the two? and what to attach to saddle. I'm trying to picture this set up. It seems very gear heavy, and bulky.

Ok here it is.

I just got the junk in today, so I am still figuring my preferances.

I will take a pic tomorrow, I am too tired to go to the truck and get the stuff.

I aint got any good pics of the junk today either.

Carl,

I noticed that you recommend the Ness Work saddle over the Smoke Jumper. Why is that? I'm just asking because I was thinking about getting the Smoke Jumper soon, and I'm curious if the Work Saddle has some advantages over it that I'm not seeing. From the pictures, the two look exactly the same except for color and the Smoke Jumper has gear loops on the leg straps. What am I missing?

Thanks

I can only reccommend the work as I havent (cant) wear the smoke jumper as it is too small (for chicks remember).

Some of the things I liked on the work over the jumper:

1: The jumpers side D's are huge. I like the small ones on the work saddle much better.

2: The "rolling d" on the leg straps is smaller on the work saddle making it more compact.

On my work saddle, I used 2 kong gernade gates (the big uns) on the right to hold the saw and the other now holds my silky. On my left is my lanyard, and there is a small ring on that side. I got a ditty bag from sherrill and clipped 2 of the snaps on that ring.
The ditty bag is there to stay.

Yesterday in the bag I had:

ART friction saver
2 2' nylon straps
CMi rope walker ascender w/ a petzel tri act
Cell phone
Gerber Gator 450 (knife)
2 Biners for a second tie in (with tress cord) which didnt get used.

And it would hold more.

This is the dream setup in my opinion.

Edit: I can reccommed the work, I have never used the jumper. The D's on the jumper are much larger than the work. There are subtle differences between the two. It seems as tho the jumpers hardwear is larger (not to my liking, but it may not bother you).

To make them the exact same (minus hardwear, so you get the benifits of the jumper on the work), just sew on a short dasiy on the legstraps. The gear loops are unneeded IMO if you get the dity bag, but they can be added also.

Just from the looks of the 2 I stick with what I said, "Get a ness work saddle and be done with it.":)

Leg Strap Rock! The Kolibri looks like a sweet example of the leg strap saddle. Butterfly is a rocking saddle, i use it for everything. No problem for me w/ it not being bulky enough to do heavy removals w/. I've hung an 046 of of it for hours and didn't mind it much. Anything larger than that, i don't think it would be comfy regardless of the sturdiness of the saddle. Go Light Weight.
