Does anybody know if any of the Husqvarna clutch wrenches would work on a Shindaiwa 488? Would also be interested in purchasing a new or used one if somebody has one available.

How do you just 'tap it off' ?? I've had a lot of people (including my dealer) tell me that but I have no idea how.

Rich,

I built my own clutch wrench. Took me about 5 minutes. The wrench from Shindaiwa is expensive as heck...too much for a guy like me. I'll snap a picture when I get home from work today.

The 488 has the machined in hex nut as mentioned by rb. I looked in the shindaiwa saw repair manual I have and apparently the 488 is the only one like this as there was a wrench listed for every other model.

Another duh moment!!!!

Well I guess you answered a couple of questions for me. I was wondering why there was no wrench listed in the repair manual for the 488. I took the clutch off with the scrench that came with the saw. My next question is how tight it needs to be going back on? I would think it would self tighten some when you lay into the wood.

Thanks for the help!!
