today i installed 3 of them with spans of 27-34ft. any others using this stuff? whats a fair price fer installing this stuff? the boss charged 300 per cable.

i think the rope is crap junk. i like the idea but i still want to drill em.

I dunno, we're still using eye-bolts and steel cable. :dizzy:

May sound odd to a couple of folks, but for my own big deciduous and evergreens, I'd rather go with the steel cable and skip having Cobra.

There is just something odd to me about Cobra. It's like having a tree with a couple of harnesses left up there by a couple of climbers.

Sort of like Techno-trash.

Steel is not natural, but it can be installed to look a lot more subtle.

The Cobra price near the beginning sounded quite economically bid. No need to go lower than that.

I can never see a rope or cable unless I look for a rope or cable but tell me : Are you drilling through or just using lags?
I like to work with the rope more than the cable and the rope has some good attributes. I woould like to try in some of my trees. Either way monitoring is key.
Alot of times people just tell me about how 'some guy put it in about 5 years ago'. Once again, whatever you put in don't turn you back on it for to long and keep track of it... for many reasons.
I guess running a line of cable would start at 130.00 or so if you had to get up there?
I like to use the cable you can splice back through the thimble. Even if aircraft cable is used the dead end is still only as strong as the lesser grade... I beleive.
I knew this one guy who would run around tossing arbor tie is all the bradford pears. It got to be a thing of regular maintence for him. My idea of regular maintence for those trees is to give them a good topping to. Lollipop the sob, come back in a year and thin it out, save the good leaders. Then keep on top of it with some pole loppers or a big set a hedge shears and thin and raise as needed. The B.P. is about the only shade tree I will top like that but if you are paying just tell me where to point my saw and we will go from there.
