Sorry about the screw up, somewhere in the airwaves things got jumbled, try again tomorrow.

Hear is another video of a guy from the UP of Michigan running one of Cliff Helsel 3120's.
He also raced at Blind River Ontario this weekend and did fairly well.
From what I gather he beat a few smok’in HOT saws from a builder in Canada with a bone stock 7900 that just came out of the bush that has buco hours on it. He also ran is 2100 a won by a quite large margin in 10" round pine.

Yep EJ put on a good show. He got disqualified on a few events for not putting his saw back on the ground which is where the time stopped. His may have been the only square filed chain in the stock runs. My son and I did not enter in the stock events though they really had no way to know what was modified or not. I placed second in 0 t0 80 modified with pipe and pump gas against pipes and alky/nitro. In the 0 to 140 modified I accidently left my switch off as I went to start . Just as well cause by the time I got my 372 going, some of the other 88's and 3120's on alky were back on the ground. I am getting a bit of razzing for this. My son got a third in this class with his 066 piped, pump gas and his own square filed chain. It was his first event at cold start. He and I got third in the cross cut. Some of the local fellows that are trying niro fuel for the first time ran into problems with overheating and running away. They were allowed to have more than one entrant with the same saw and were running cuts back to back. I don't know who they bought the saws from, but they are pretty new to the game.
Anyways it was a real crowd pleaser since most of the people in this town of 3000 people have never seen anything but stock saws with round filed chain. Last year I took firsts and seconds mainly due to square filed chain. This year the bar was raised with some full blown race saws and nitro fuel. Who knows what next year will bring!

Mange,
These contests are like golf, if you get to serious the fun goes out the window.

Mange,

I would have to say that Crofters filing is doing quite well, Pulling off a second place with a 372 woods saw and his chain in an 80cc any thing goes class. Lots of nitro, alchol / full blown race saws in the class. EJ beat him, but were talking about a fully done up saw and someone who is puting lots of race practice time in.

Timberwolf,
If you are talking about the 7900 Dolmar that E.J. ran that saw is bone stock and is used by Cliff Helsel everyday in the woods cutting logs. It is an exceptional saw and had a very good chain on it. According to E.J. some of the other competitors took a look at it after the race and agreed it was stock. Cliff says it probably has 1200-1300 tanks of fuel through it so it sure is broken in.

In hanging around Cliff I know that he has concentrated all of his efforts to Husq. as far as I know he does not have a modified Dolmar of any kind.

Filing

Mange,
After spending a day with Crofter I must say that he is doing some of the best filing I have ever seen, now that he has gotten his hands on a Simington grinder I think he will not take a backseat to anyone with his chains.

I am sure he did well, he seem very determent to find out how well a chain can perform.
From what i seen and heard he is a couple lifetimes ahead of the rest of us ;)

Very nice to hear.
