I am seeking information on copper compounds as a preventative chemical control for fireblight. I've heard of its benefits and want to know what copper compound/spray is used in such a procedure? Any further insight on this procedure or others much the same would be greatly appreciated.

Copper sulfate, lime and oil I cannot remember the phenology, but it is when it is cool and damp when the bacteria is most abel to infect the suculent new growth.

Do a search on copper there are several posts.

My understanding is that the timing is real tight to get effective treatment, and of course copper stains.

Locally the copper product has been changed from copper sulphate to copper oxychloride, not sure why, not sure if it makes a difference in efficacy or not yet. Also, along that vein we ( in British Columbia) have also had our last two systemic insecticides removed from retail sale, the last two were: Latox (aka Isotox (oxydemeton methyl, dicofol and something else)) and Cygon aka Lagon (ingredient 24% dimethoate).
