I bought this cord today from a local rock climbing store. They sold it as Prussic cord but didn't have any info on it. Strength, heat resistance, or brand. I was going to use it for a VT setup but am not sure if I can't find any info on it.

It does have three seperate braided lines for the inside. If that means anything. Any info would be helpful. thanks

I was with them when they looked it up. They get it from a wholesaler that doesn't put any specs in with the cord. They gave me about 10' for a buck, though they charge 30 cents a foot. Last of the roll. I figured that I couldn't go wrong. I'll just use it for something else. Thanks.

I would say as long as it is 8mm and it sold as prussic cord give it a whirl or just send it my way. You say it is a tripple braid? Sounds good to me.

Mike you need not be so scared. Maybe you should consider a job with Mcdonalds drive through. Just kidding. I know your gonna flip when you read this.

Anyway I am sure you should be able to find out the manufacture of the cord and strength. How hard can it be. Go back to store and metion the liabiltiy of what it is your asking them.

John, like i said, i asked them all the pertinent q's. They were clueless. I was just hoping that maybe someone here would recognize the cord.

I do agree with mike though. If I can't find out what the breaking piont is, then i'll use it for somthing else. It's my life, I don't have any others to play around with.:D

I would be interested in knowing who made it, simply for the fact that they did not know! It is often written on the spool. If it's not on the spool, it might be because the company who made it doesn't want anyone to know who made it!

I've got a feeling that it is a nylon cover and a nylon core. Kernmantle rope with almost all the strength in the core and the cover is very thin strands (especially when you compare it to our arborist climbing lines). Where did you buy it from?

I'd bet you'd be safe if you used it, but I would not use it without knowing that it's from a reputable manufacturer and that it can withstand the abuse that you are going to put it through!

I agree here too with Mike. The place you bought the cord from should have been able to call their supplier and get the info. I know what the cord is before I order it so when the question is asked of me, I know.

It also sounds like this store (or salesperson) doesnt know anything about what they are selling. hopefully since you bougt the last of it, they wont restock it.

As for recongition of the cord, it looks similar (but w/ different colors) to ultratech but also the $8/100' utility cord sold at a local farm/ranch store.

Sweet! As an ex-store manager, I would have you work on your people skills. I believe there's hope! :D

Here's one for ya. A couple years ago I was dateing this girl who was still in college. She took me home to rich parents and she was so ashamed of what I did for work she told them I worked for McDonalds and at dinner was like" say it". So I was like "welcome to McDonalds may I take your order please..... would like fries with.............would like to super size that....please pull around. It was quite joke.

I still have a hard time being proud of being a climber. Not exactly top of the what I want to be when I grow up list. But it was on mine when I was little along with being a pilot or ???? star I didn't want to be that until I hit puberty.

Everyone knows that bad spellers are intellegent. So what is wrong Brian spelling grammer or my morrals of dateing a virgin college at my age?

Yeah the sex was pretty good as I remember. We did tell her parent what I really did. I couldn't keep it in. At that time I was just getting back into climbing after getting divorced and haveing to give up my job at the airport and my co pilot position only because the money in tree is so much more. I guess I make a better climber than a pilot.

Why does everyone hate Micky Dees? When I quit them in '92 I was $31000 plus a year. I worked a lotta hours, but it was all you could eat!

Thats sounds sweet Butch. I love eating at Micky D's. Cant beat that dollar menu. 4 dbl cheese on the way home is a great snack before dinner. Really helps keep ya regular. Maybe too regular. I use to eat nothin but that and man was skinny. All this home cooking is putting some weight on me.
