Corroded crank seal area, can it be used?

It’s a 372xpg case the flywheel side I have some corrosion going on and it’s getting close the where the seal sits, kinda crumbing. can I send the seal in with some grey gasket maker and reuse or will it cause me issues down the road eroding more making a leak. Thanks

Not an expert but.......

I'd clean all the metal in the area and paint/seal it, then use sealer when you install the seal.

That corrosion is just like cancer that will spread. I'd hit any other areas on the cases too.
