Somebody posted some great pics of a huge chunk of what appears to be tree trunk crotch. Is this the sort of chunk one would use to get burl slabs with a chainsaw mill? Could a piece like this be used as the source for milling table top slabs?

It could be milled, but I think it would make a great outside stump you could mount a table top and umbrella in the center on. I think it has too many limbs going different direction to make any wood for tables. Just my thoughts...

Yes, it could be milled.....anything can be milled.
