The riding school where SWMBO rides had a couple of medium size pines taken down.

The smaller one is about 3 ft diam at the base, the other one (stump shown) is about 4 ft.

The scraggly looking smaller pieces are going to be used for cross country horse jumps.
All the owners want is full width slab for a long outdoor table and the timber for the table legs and a couple of benches, and I can have the rest.

I'm not sure what the type of softwood it is.
The owner says it is radiata but it looks a touch too red to me for that.

Anyone have any ideas on what they might be?

bob might be pinus pinea which is stone pine also called umbrella pine the pine needles will be thicker than radiata and bark will be a little different from radiata mills up ok
 
Its gonna help to see the grain ,so bust er open . Pine will be fun after what you been showing us ,were gonna need pictures . Wow one big table gonna be nice ,got any ideas for your part yet. I ve been making little tables and benches fast and fun ,lots of color .
