Trying out some new forms of advertising this season and I was wondering if anyone had any luck with craigslist? Huh? Huh? Got one hit after a day with firewood so I was thinking about posting tree care under skilled labor (which it is). Lemme know.

I have a few friends in the trades (and tree work) who actively solicit happy clients to post them on Angie's list.

Craigs list looks like bargain hunters to me.

I have a couple adds on craigslist and have gotten a few jobs off o it. The people on craigslist do seem to be price shopping a lot. I don't do estimates from there anymore that are more than 20 min from my place.

Had very good success selling furniture, car parts and odd items - getting very near our asking price in most cases.

But never got any work when I experimented with the services category in Craigslist.

Just not worth the time.

You have a better chance of seeing God than getting a decent customer that way. Firewood? Sure, its just a quick commodity. odds and ends? yup, that's what its for.
I did a stint for this guy who runs a little piss ass tree company. He was always preaching about how high he held himself for being such an educated tree man but was really just a dolt. I saw his ad on craiglist the other day and had to laugh.
If you want some work off of it you have to put something like- have saw will travel or Free tree work
don't advertise on there.

Clist

I live near Madison wis and get at least 5 calls a week off craigslist but the best thing aobut it is getting rid of the wood I dont want to deal with and I mean anything pine spruce etc people think its great. I let em pick it up for free and I dont have to deal with it

In California I was in school and working and doing small side jobs. I put an ad in Craigslist and got some really great small pruning jobs (fruit trees mostly). Fun clients and good overall experience. You never know...

Ive gotten all kinds of work off of craigslist. We are in the construction business and one job was to go out and dig a test hole on a lot which led to over $1,000,000 worth of work. Other than that, we got a $95,000 retaining wall job and couple additions to houses around $75,000 and up. Craigslist is definetely worth the price.
