Just had my first day of a new free wood arrangement. Found this connection on craigslist and couldn't be happier. Landowner asked for some large rounds cut and quartered. In exchange I've got access to cutting several large trees that are down. There have been some disappointments on the local site the last few months, but today has restored faith and is cause for celebration. I stacked what looks like it'll be 1.5 cords of oak. Best of all the property is 3 miles from my wood pile!

congrats Illinibrew !
Craigslist has been pretty dry the past few months for me ... Expect things to pickup going into spring when people want their property lookin' good for the summer.

Check-out this one from Craigslist.

I have a very old tall and fat oak tree that must come down in my front yard. I will get the permit and hire you or someone you refer to me for the stump grinding. Its yours for free, you cut down. I would say with a tree this big you should be a professional tree company (yes its that big and fat). The only thing I ask, that I can contact your insurance company for your liability insurance. You will profit greatly with this tree... trust me. Please email me your phone number and the best time to reach you. Thank you! "
These people crack me up... :dizzy:

Good to hear that others are also occasionally finding good fortune. I guess it's just a matter of keeping the faith and staying the course. Enjoy that wood. Sounds like a great find.
