did my climber saw too much off the collar/husk?
(see before & after pics attached below)

ANSI 5.8.2, don't take off fronds at 45 degrees whose tips at horizontal,

5.8.3, cut em close to the petiole base without damaging trunk,

5.8.4 remove only the dead frond bases, at the trunk. Don't damage trunk tissue.

You may have hit the trifecta; too bad you're not at the fronton.:biggrinbounce2:

when in doubt, read the directions. Cost of pruning standards and bmps, $18.

yeah i came back after loading up the stump grinder and had to tell him to make sure he leaves more of the collar.

fronton???

I thought jai-alai was done away with many years ago. Went to the fronton on Miami in '85, it was fun.

I know d!ck about pruning palms.

Yea little too much off the head.I try to just get em tight not strip them completely.(although ive seen em done many times like that year after year)

a fronton is where they play jai-alai. they do that in tampa, anyway. saw bruce springsteen on his first usa tour at the fronton. weird acoustics.

anyway, strongly recommend getting the directions. easier for clients and workers and o yeah us to know what should be going on. you must have $7 rolling around eh?

I used to play jai-alai with Fransico's kids and some of the other pro player's kids at the Tampa fronton in the early and mid 1980's.... it's now a home depot.
sorry, back to topic
indeed knowing what to and how to goes a long way.
stay far from what the local hacks call a "hurricane cut"

Cut too much off the butts.

Some times customers ask for just the central spear tobe left as they want a longer period of time between cleans. So you get like a candle with 2 fronds sticking out the top, rather silly, I argue with them but it's tough.

Here's a pretty standard one for me

I try to have frond tips horizontal to the horizon but some palms have really droopy fronds that hang down way further than that and they originate from the central core, so be careful playing rule books!

That is textbook pruning Eric; you oughta send those pics to ed hilman for his website.
bnoo i mighta watched you play back in the day!
