Is there a way to fix stripped out plastic holes in a cs310? The guide bar studs are both stripped out. Epoxy? Thanks in advance
I didn’t see anything that looks like an insert. I’m afraid to take the good one out and lookI thought Echo put metal inserts into the plastic (perhaps composite is a better word) during the manufacturing process. Are you sure no such insert exists for the cs310? Perhaps the original size or the over sized one for the Stihl chainsaws MS251 and smaller with composite chassis. My CS361 is a small 8mm at the bar and 6mm at the nut, not sure what it is at the part inside the saw body. Re tapppiing larger and going oversized at the part inside the composite would be another possibility.
It’s an echo cs310. The part of the stud that goes into the body has course threads on it. I don’t see any insert. I might just have to take the other one out and seeThats what I thought also, sure looks like the replacement studs have machine threads not course plastic ones. I've never pulled one out of a Echo and I tighten tight. Maybe he's talking about a MS310. Steve
Heil-coil makes the kit. The hole is over-bored with the supplied bit. The tap makes the new O.D. threads, and the coil insert is inserted. Sounds like the person turning the wrench is on the chip.....throttle back on the tightening. Is there a way to fix stripped out plastic holes in a cs310? The guide bar studs are both stripped out. Yes that's a crappy design. Echo has been cheaping up their lower end saws lately like Stihl has. SteveHere’s the stud. No insert. Threads into plastic. Crappy design by echo
