The other day I cut a trailer load of Black Locust. There's still about 6 more trees (3 loads) I still need to drop and cut. I girdled them earlier this summer. It's easy wood to get. It's on the edge of my Dads yard. I can drop the rest of them in the yard once my Dads garden is finished. No weeds, vines or brush to deal with.
The Black Locust is my favorite wood to heat with. I believe they say it's over 3 times harder than Oak.
Luckily most of them had very few spikes on them. There's one growing on the railroad property that is completely covered in the spikes/thorns... I'm talking about 12" spikes. I forgot to take a pic of it.
