Does anyone know if you can buy a cut off saw attachment for chainsaws (Husqvarna). I seen one on ebay, the whole saw, and it appeared like you could just bolt the attachment on the power head.

Thanks,
Doug

I'd say that its not as easy as that, you've got to change the sprocket from a spur or rim to a pulley style for a belt, then you've got to change the clutch cover out and get one with a bit more clearance for the wider cutting attachment, its not as easy as just bolting one on a chainsaw powerhead.

I agree, probably a pain unless you have one of the Stihl TS-50, 510, 760 types (1111 powerhead). The 50 I worked on had a pulley that slipped over the existing clutch/drum setup. Then you bolted on the cutoff arm to the bar studs. That was it. In a pinch I could have bolted that setup onto my 075. But that's alot of powerhead for a 12" wheel.

The drum/sprocket was brand spanking new, so I swapped with one of my used up ones off the 075. Figured he wouldn't miss it.

I know this info won't help you but it is neat to know.

You will also need a better air filter system. My TS 350 cut off saw has a two phase system. Basically a fibre sleeve that goes over a very thick paper element, similar to the ones found in older cars but much smaller.
If you want you saw to last, then I would suggest getting a proper cut off saw, or maybe just rent one if your need is only occasional.

Good point toneman
if the saw is going to last at all, the air filtration system must be more powerful, otherwise you're really just sucking sawdust into the engine and causing undue wear to the piston and cylinder.

Thanks for the replies. Concrete dust would be a lot finer. I figured it may be to good to be true but you never know.

Thanks,
Doug

cutoff saw

You also want to be very careful to set the top rpm to specs for the model cutoff saw you are using. Overspeeding a cutoff wheel can lead to shrapnel.
