I was just curious. i have 150' of climbing rope and would like to cut off a bit for a split tail. How much should i cut off and how should i do this?

Pick where you want to cut, then tightly wrap with electrical tape for a good inch or two, then cut in the middle of the taped area with something sharp.

This works better than taping the ends after cutting.

Melt the ends at your convenience.

I put an old putty knife in the vise and heat it up red hot. Then use that to cut the rope and seal them at the same time.

Hey guys take it easy on me :hmm3grin2orange: I heat a cheap machete and burn through the rope and melt it. Depends on rope whether tape is used
