Ok my dad called a few weeks ago. Told me his 028 lost a bolt by the muffler. I though oh well, it's just a muffler bolt I've got millions of those. He showed up today with the saw and it isn't the muffler bolt I was thinking was gone.

I don't know what it is that's missing. Here are some pictures for you guys! Please help!

The bolt that's missing is the one right above the oil cap. I have no clue what this is to or for?

Is this muffler the "jungle muffler" that I have heard about?

Sorry for the crappy photos.

I dont know anything about a jungle muffler, but I think its just a shorty screw that goes into the side of the existing muffler shell. Dont know whey they made them that way or if its good/bad/other. Maybe just another attachment point to the body of the saw?

It bolts the muffler to the case. The other front two screw only hold the muffler itself together and don't mount to the case. Just get the right size screw and screw it back in... hopefully the threads aren't stripped out on the muffler, if so take a look on e bay for a used one.

Looks like an 028WB (old style) muffler on a newer case, 028AV/Super.

The later cases don't have that hole. Op, pull the muffler cover and check the 2 bolts that attatch the rear muffler shell to the cylinder while your at it. Sometimes when that bolt you are missing gets loose, the inner bolts also loosen.
