We have planted daffodils that are now 10 years old. They still flower beautifully however the blooms seem to be getting smaller each year. Do we need to thin them by splitting up the bunches, and would this help to increase flowering size? Can we replant the split bunches effectively to produce more daffodils?

Sounds like you have the right idea, you can split the bulbs up and they should flower much better unless they are covered by evergreens and get too much shade. Just give them some seperation so they're not bunched up, once you start digging you'll probably find you have alot of extras to plant somewhere else. I've used a drill and just plopped them in wherever and they did fine. They're tough plants.
