danarm milling saw

Hi Guys
I have a Stihl planking mill, new unused, and fancy having a go at chainsaw milling.
Although I use all Stihl saws I also own a Danarm 171ss (70+cc) from the 80s, this is x army reserve stock still in wooden box, and wondered if it would be a suitable saw for milling?
The chain is 3/8ths.

Any advice please

Treefrog, welcome to the forum! I'm not familiar with the saw, but from the size, I'd say it would be suitable for 16" diameter and under hardwood logs. Do you have a milling attachment for it? How do you plan to use it?

Welcom, WOW, I had to look that one up. Cool looking saw. Is it like new, never used, in box? If it's old army surplus and kinda beat up, by all means give it a go. If it's in unused condition it may have collectors value beyond that of a new bigger saw. I had never heard of them, and even used it may have collectors value. Being from the 80's it might not be anything special, but as I said, it is a cool looking saw. Wait a bit for people with much more knowledge to respond. All of my milling saws are Homelites from the 70's. A bit slower in RPM than newer saws but still quite torquey. Good luck and thanks for stopping by.
