After my last post Gatkeper mentoned about the timing marks on the crankcase and the magento stator. Well after looking I can't seem to find any, so does anyone have ideas on how to position the piston at 0.175 BTDC,so I then can rotate the magento to open the points.
Thanks again for all of your help

Is that inches BTDC? You stick a dial gauge down the plug hole inline with the piston travel. Measure 175 thou. before the piston is at its highest position.

I went through the same dance with my 111S and got it as close as possible. That was a long night with a screwdriver and a test lamp.

If you have no timing marks then you have one of two types
1 Non adjustable timing, preset at factory
2 Non marked crankcase/stator
With option 2 you set timing at .175 btdc
(11/64"=apprx .172")
you can use a dial indicator or lay a straight edge across the top of the cylinder place a ruler down the plug hole and take your measurment
Once you have it set mark the crankcase and stator
