After the tree dies about how long is the tree still good for lumber? Thanks

normally any tree is still salable as long as the bark stays on........however, i have put a couple on a load with no bark as long as the wood is good and solid. i doubt any buyer would accept a whole load of dead unless an agreement was made first.

What killed the ash and are you sure the wood is still sound? If EBA kille it it might turn to punk faster than normal.

Don't count on the trees being merchantable if they have been standing dead for more than a year. Ash stains brown very very fast. Once the EAB kills it the wood is about as strong as wet cardboard . It turns to punk real fast. Gets pretty dicey to cut too.

They were mostly the small 8-10" ones that were the worst. They were falling out into nothing. They'd be almost cut through start over and then snap. They'd almost 10' up. I started plunge cutting them instead. And then clip the trigger and stay off to the side.
