in half dead trees. have any of you guys had success in taking the dead out(topping) and rehabing it back to life? obviously a tree that has been treated in this manor will have weak joints, and will need to be retrained every couple of years.

i have never tried this and have removed any trees of this nature. but if there are iny good success strories about it, i might give it a try.

Really it's not topping though. You are making cuts back to live laterals.
