Dead Elm Is it safe to fell?

Tree is beside my parents driveway I'm concerned about it splitting when I get part way through it. Its about 30" base What's your opinion

just farm work been cutting down trees and cutting firewood and clearing brush since I was kid

You'll be fine, that cedar elm has good holding wood.

Not if you cut it wisely. Notch it with an open face hinge, bore in to set your hinge thickness (about 1.5"-2" in this case) then back out. Pretty rare it get barber chair if you are doing it right.

Thanks guys I'm not use to cutting dead trees
