EDINBURG -- A 41-year-old Fox Hill Road man was killed Thursday evening after he was hit by a limb from a tree he was trimming and then fell to his death, authorities said.
Jeffrey B. Edwards, of 152 Fox Hill Road, was part of a group of people trimming tree limbs at 20 Fox Hill just before 8 p.m. when one of the limbs the group had not intended to cut fell. The man was working in the tree when the branch struck him in the forehead, causing him to fall about 20 feet and strike his head on rocks below, Saratoga County sheriff's deputies said.
Edwards was pronounced dead at the scene by county Coroner John DeMartino, deputies said.
It was the fourth logging-related injury or death in the Capital Region in the past three weeks, and the third this week alone. On Wednesday a 32-year-old man suffered head and chest injuries when hit by a falling tree while helping to clear a lot on Moe Road in Clifton Park.
A 69-year-old man died Tuesday in Granville when he cut a tree and it struck him as he went on to cut another tree; a 38-year-old man died May 20 when he was crushed by a falling tree in Horicon, Warren County.
