Has anyone installed a decompression valve on a non decompression saw? I would like to install one on my Husky 55 Rancher. I like the one on my Pro Mac 650. It makes it so easy to pull start. Maybe I should have just bought a bigger saw with one already installed on it.

The Husky guys are gonna flame me for this but, go to a Stihl dealer and get an Elasto-start. As easy as changing a pull cord.

Is that the new pull rope that I have heard so much about? I guess that would be a breeze to install also. Any idea as to how much they cost? Thanks

Less than $20. You can take a black magic marker and color over the little Stihl logo on it. Will make the saw easier to start (less operator fatigue)

You gotta love you guys here

Yep ! My exact thought also.

An additional benefit also is that being easier to start with the Elasto-Start handle those husky levers that keep breaking and falling off will last at least twice as long after.

There are a few different sizes of the elasto start system. They make it for everything from string trimmers to MS-880's. The one Baileys sells is for saws in the 70cc and up range, too big imho for a 50cc saw. The rope matches the engine size. On the smaller models you can just pull the rope out ant tie a knot so it doesn't wind back in, then change just the handle parts and let loose your knot. Should take less than 5 minutes and require almost no tools.

Baileys-online.com uses framesets with their online sales site, so you never do get to see in the location bar the actual URL of the page you're viewing.  Whenever I arrive at such a site, I right-click on the body of the document and select "open frame in this window".  Doing so at that link above yields something like
http://onlinestore.forestindustry.com/cgi-bin/baileys/cat.html (with the appended variable removed).&nbsp; When following links within <i>that</i> page, you'll always see where you are in the site hierarchy.&nbsp; You could then post a link directly to the actual item such as replacement starter rope/handle for Stihl.
