Gave the Ripsaw (and myself) a good workout today.

Ended up with 14 nice cherry boards, milled to 1-1/8" thickness, from four 5' logs I cut in the fall of 2008.

Also had five aspen logs which I cut in fall of 2008. Split two of them with the Ripsaw and called it a day.

I make benches from the aspen half logs or slabs, the legs are made from aspen branches.

That bench is a work of art ! ! !

power head on Ripsaw

Very nice! What model power head do you use on the rip saw?

When I bought the Ripsaw new in 1998, they recommended a Stihl 044, so that's what I bought. Very satisfied with the performance and reliability.

The Stihl dealer gave me a funny look when I asked him if I could buy a powerhead with no bar or chain, but he sold it to me!

Here's a closeup of the aspen leaves

I noticed your user name, Better Built Corporation was the name of the original manufacturer of the Ripsaw in Wilmington, Mass when I bought mine in 1998.

Ripsaw is now owned by Southeastern Industrial Resources (SIR) in Grant, Al.
I offically have my business registered as Better Billt Construction because my name is Bill. I ran across about fifty businesses using the other name so I changed it. Hope that clarifies things.

nice texture on those leaves, almost look real. i retired last year, and still trying to get caught up enough to get my wood shop moved to the new house site.
i do blanket chests, jewel boxes, some tables, and gun cabnets. and plan to do more inlay wook in the future.
