Has anyone else seen/tried the Disston Palm Saw? i saw it in HomeDepot for $50. It is an extendable to light, 12' fiberglass pole, with a tri-edge blade, and aggressive hooks on each end of the blade. i haven't been able to find any info on replacement blades.

Spencer (Budroe) has one. I checked it out when I was down there a couple weeks ago. He said the top hook is good for fishing out seed pods on palms, and the bottom hook is for scoring the underside of the frond so it doesn't peel. He said it worked well, very aggressive cut.

i didn't really buy this for palms, it has such an aggressive blade, it has become an alternate polesaw, easy to adjust for standard duty. While sometimes i miss the Jameson's(on the truck, or in other use); i have certainly found a place for it in my arsenal.

With the high tec blade, adjustable to 12' reach, lite weight; it is a fair $50 spent i think; if ya fellas aren't seeing these away from palm areas, ya might be getting gyped!

hey spyder,
that saw rocks!!!!! i got mine about 4 months ago and it's
showing no sign of dulling!!!! not only does it do a great
job in palms but i've been bringing it up in some big oaks
the last week or so......comes in handy pulling vines w/ that
hook on the end!!! i like the weight and the feel of the saw...
very strudy. not sure about a replacement blade. i figure in another month or 2 i'll bring it back to the depot and exchange it for a new one.....i know the garden manager:D

i wasn't going to say that Tim, but the silloheutte is honestly similar! Perhaps the blade is a lil thinner or Silky's better tempered, as the replacemeant blade for Silky is as much as this whole setup!

Actually would like to find these replace-meant blades and figure how to mount on the Snap-cut type head! But y'all might check around and see if you can get a look at one; especially if you are just starting out on a budget........ Though the question of replaement blades still hangs.

It's still here Dennis, otherwise it would have a tag her saying it was moved.

You sure your logged onto the board? I've had it before where the server drops me and I have to log back in.

gotta love it!!!!!

hey spyder,
i just brought back my palm saw to the
depot and exchanged it for a new one.
after about 6 months of use, it was pretty
beat up. the telescopic mechanism failed...
once locked into place, i couldn't loosen it.
it's got a year warranty so i figure that i'll
keep my receipt on file and in another 6-8
months i'll go back and get another one!!!

I'd like to get one of those saws, I've searched and can not find them. My HDepot does not carry them, and I can not find it on the net either. Can you give me the exact name so I can try a more detailed search, or get my HD to order one for me?
Thanks,
Greg

no problem....

hey greg,
i'm closing tommorrow nite....
i'll do a remote sku look-up for
the depot closet to you. are you
in stuart or jensen beach???
let me know and i'll post my findings
tommorrow!!!
helps to know the garden manager;)

hey greg,

that this info into your local home depot and they can
get you this saw......

sku# 319-568
disston palm tree saw
49.96

all you need is the sku #. get w/ one of the garden guys
and have them type it in the sku look-up screen and they
can see if it's an active sku or not. if it is, they can order
it or transfer one in.

good luck,
budroe:cool:

Thanks for the follow up, I'll let you know if I can get it or not.
Thanks!
Greg
