Warning, skip this post if you are tired of my talking about the 880 vs 3120 thing.
In my search the web, seems like aftermarket bars for the 880 (except GP or Cannon) are harder to find than I would have thought.
Anyone know of a site that lists dl counts for 3/8 .063 in the 32 to 42 inch bar sort of range for the 880? Stihl ES, Oregon, anyone's bars. I am trying to get an idea of whether the dl count differs between 660 and 880 on the same length bar.
No issue with a longer bar, as whatever saw I get (880, 3120) I will probably start with a 50 inch 3/8 Cannon. But for shorter bars, I am trying to figure out if any of my currentshorter length chains will match up for an 880.
I already run 10 different lengths/size of chain, and am hoping to minimize additional sizes to keep on hand. One advantage of the 3120 is that I can use my many bigmount husky bars and chains....
I talked to one dealer today that sells both big saws, and their head tech likes the 880 better. He wishes they had made an adjustable hs on the carb, rather than putting a fixed jet and limiter to solve the problems some 3120s were having.
The dealer said some of their customers that run 3/8 on very long bars (partly because it's cheaper) run the Oregon C/JLX which is slightly wider than Stihl 3/8. I don't know if I can bring myself to do that, as I think the Stihl teeth hold an edge noticeably better, especially square. (I have a few loops of CLX for a 28 inch bar that I tried because I was curious.)
