I know this has been visited before a few times, but another customer whose opinion I have a lot of respect for stopped in yesterday, and I asked him how he likes his 575 compared to his 372's. (he has owned it for 7 or 8 months)

His answer: The 575 has way more power and will out cut the 372 day in and day out. Much broader power curve. Lot's of compression, and a little harder to start in cold weather for guys who aren't familiar with it. Wouldn't think of buying another 372. (And I have 4 left in stock)

And this has pretty much been the norm for nearly all of my customers. We did have the one early failure, and I know that Ben Walker has seen a few of them in his area. We have only had that one problem with that one saw. But by and large my customers are very happy with them and aren't looking back. In fact, as we wind down the year here, the 575 has outsold the 372 this year, and I have had both in stock since march when I loaded up on 372's when Husky had that "last chance" opportunity.

Funny thing is that I am the type of guy who doesn't like change, and would normally be one of the guys hanging on to the 372 myself. But my customers have spoken, and they prefer the new 575 hands down.

So, fellow members, are you guys accepting this saw yet?

I have spoken with 2 guys that say the same here....though the extra weight keeps them swinging the 372 for limbing but they state that the do not at all notice the extra weight/bulk of the 575 when felling and bucking

The 575XP just needs to have more time in the field. Guys who are running them here also love them and admit that they produce more power than the 372XP. The only hurdle is that they do not have the years of reliable history that the 372XP has and people don't like change.

You still have some 372's in stock? I ask cuz one of my buddies wants one, but he just wants the power head. Whats your price for one? Where about in Ulster county are u located? Im from Albany.

In my opinion, the 575XP is a terrible saw. We sent 5 or 6 out with some of our fallers and they had numerous problems with screws rattling loose, mounts failing, etc. The 372 is a very solid little saw and has proven itself in the field.

Well you are gonna get it now. Hows dares ya speak more favorably of the 575 instead of the 372, shames on ya,lol. Fact is Spike I never believed for a second the 575 was as bad as some of the opinions I read. I think its a matter of change, some can , some can't, simple as that.

That sort of says it right there for me...I find the weight/power balance in the 372 to be a better fit...for ME. For an all-day saw, the 372 is at the limit of what I want to carry through the brush. For a professional logger, it's probably the other way around...they don't notice the weight so much but love the broader torque curve.

All of the new X-torque saws have been well received this year. (455/460/570/575XP) And there have been no problems except for that one 575 that I mentioned. People like the low fuel usage and low smoke in addition to the power.

What surprised me today was that as I look at the year end numbers, those 4 models accounted for 1/3 of my Husky sales, with the 575 being the top dog. The percentage might have been larger but for the fact that the 460 didn't arrive until August, and the 372's almost kept pace with the 575. The 455/460 have pretty much killed my 359 sales, and maybe took some 350/353 business as well. So, looking ahead, the X-torque models will continue to grow. There is a new 445 coming out sometime this year on a smaller chassis than the 455/460.

The big loser in my store, (and probably in a lot of others), was Jonsered, which still has no versions of any of these saws in red. Are you listening Mr. Tilton?

For the next couple of years the 575 will be the 372's "fat sister". Then she will be "pleasantly plump, but a hard worker". Change comes hard. I'm still working on Stihl rotating their numbers around.

I cant like the 575 and if the choice of a 372 wasnt there would be buying a Stihl 441.
The 575 is not reliable(old and currnet versions), and is very cold blooded to name a few of its problems.

I have the 570, and like it, (its VERY similar to the 575) a couple weeks ago, a good friend had a chance to run it, and he is a arborist, uses a lot of Stihls.
He was very impressed with the handling, and didn't think the weight felt bad.
Really liked the anti-vibe too. He was impressed with the overall smoothness of it.
Now that I have a 7900, it will probably see a lot less use though.

the one rep i spoke to up here said it may be two or more years before jonny switched. which is fine by me, all the bugs will be worked out by then.

Unfortunately, you are probably right. The bugs, if any will indeed be gone, but so will a good deal more of Jonsered's market share.

cold blooded. once its hot though cuts nice, the weight isnt hugely noticeable on the ground.
