buy a bandit i used to have a woodchuck wc17 with a john deere engine the engine was great but the chipper was junk. altec bought woodchuck never used a new one i have had best of luck with all my bandit chippers . my 99 bandit 250xp has 4750 hours on the original cummins and still goes out everyday and still chips atleast a 12'' piece i just have maintained it well and keep good blades on it . i just had to replace a couple valves for the lift cylinder and winch but other than that nothing just keep runnin the crap out of it. If you have any other questions let me no.

Thanks for the advice I have a 1230 a and a model 290 but both have over 2,500 hrs.and I would like to invest in a new machine , Altec has great service for my bucket and they service there machines as well..

Don't buy the first run of new stuff, wait for a few years till the bugs are worked out.

New Bandit stuff seems priced pretty high. At least from my dealer down here.

I work for Pennline and we're switching from Bandits to Altecs..bad descision IMO..Most of our Bandit 150's have well over 2000hrs on them and they're still running strong..we just got the 1st Altec at our yard a couple weeks ago..its a beast of a machine..we have stuffed some wood in there we prolly shouldnt have..but it ate and begged for more..I think the clutch got fried after about maybe a 150 hrs though last week..its not the machine with my crew so I dont know for sure yet..only thing I dont care for with em is that chute skirt thing to prevent chip kickback while you're feeding it..just gets tangled and in the way..hit me up if you need more info..

The Jarhead..
