i have some spots of rust on mine, i sprayed it with cooking oil and wiped it down. its on the lower level and is a little damp down there.
thought about doing that (have an OWB) but instead decided to not give it an off season, so pushing 13 years of 24/7 firing, with 1/2 day shutdown each fall for annual cleaning.
WD40 is a real BAD product when trying to prevent rust over extended periods.I scrape my OWB as well as I can when I shut it down then go in there with a big can of WD40. Im only on my 3rd year but it seems to be working.
I am not sure if WD-40 is water based or not but in my opinion it's not a very good product. It's next to worthless as a penetrating oil. It's a better cleaner than a lubricant but not stellar by any means. It's a good example of extensive marketing.Water based, ain't it?
No, it's basically mineral oil & solvent. It's not a miracle product, but it's not that bad either.Water based, ain't it?
No silicone in the org stuff, but WD-40 now makes a silicone spray.i thought it was mostly silicone
Why do you heat 24/6 in the summer? My brother's inlaws just run theirs every 3 or 4 days for hot water.
