Hi all, i'm a newbie to the site. was wonderin if i could get some insights from ye all, me old man has come across an dolmar 123 that sat unused for about 4 years, he said it started up fine but was quite smokey and lacking in power and kept bogging down in the wood, the chain was'nt great but should'nt be the prob. also he'd put his own mix in, checked the air filter. any idea what the probs could be and is it worth getting it fixed up right?

by the way i'm running a 254xp meself. saw a 066 running and quite liked it so will be savin me pennies.

cheers

POssibly carb or filter or even just a spark plug that is slightly fouled,, and if its been setting and the old mix ratios were high like 16:1 or 32:1 check the easy stuff first,,,,, sounds like it is just oiled way too much fuel wise!!!! JMHO

make sure you use a minimum of FRESH midgrade petrol,,, super is better,,,, and if you can find fully synthetic premix and mix it @ 50:1 go for it!!!!

Great first post BTW welcome to AS!!!!

Like RR said make sure you have fresh fuel at 50-1 and your airfilter is clean that saw uses a fuel governor in the carburator so with no load it will come up and run RICH till its in the cut.
