I have a New dolmar. Not thinking the gas would really make a difference I used a one gallon stihl mix and the dolmar had problems. it would cut for a few cuts and then die in the next cut. Sometimes it would run great for about 6-9 good cuts and then peter out. It would die with any pressure on the throtle. Dealer suggested using dolmar gas. (I really did not think the mix would make a difference). I switched and it was amazing the difference. Could this be a break in issue? My guess is each manufacture specially formulates the gas for its OWN saws. Makes sense. Anyone experience this or have any further insights? Thanks

[sounds of JQ zipping up his flame-proof suit]

If you took fresh premium gasoline (92+ octane) and mixed up good synthetic oil (Stihl, Husqvarna, Mobil 1 T2, Red-Line, etc) at 50:1 ratio - your saw would NOT know the difference between the various oils.

Whos your Dolmar dealer ???

My 7900 loves synthetics (I've tried a few different brands) all at 50:1
For some reason though mineral oils (numerous brands) at 50:1 foul the plug up a bit and sometimes it stalls (when dropping of the throttle) and is hard to start after about 8-10 tanks. Clean the plug and she's all good for another 8-10 tanks. After the same amount of tanks with synthetic the plug is still like new. I now run nothing but synthetic in all my saws.
I smell bu#*sh*t from your dealer though. Stihl oil is good stuff.

How old was that "Stihl mix"?

I don't quite follow what you are saying about Dolmar "gas". I Asama you are speaking of oil.

I have a dolmar, I use the same mix in my dolmar and stihl. Highest Octane I can get, ethanol free if possible. Mix 50:1 with a good quality oil, and sometimes I add a stabilizer, but I usually don't keep fuel around that long. I have not ever had any problems with fuel.

What the hell is "DOLMAR GAS" ? Perhaps I should be running "ECHO" OR "HUSKY" gas ! But then again my Poulan might reject it ! Premium... From the same gasoline company every time.... tune your saw to it.... with decent oil.... Shouldn't have a problem for "many-a-cord" !
