Could anyone help me with info on this saw such as vintage and performance. I'm new to this sight but have had a good time surfing the posts. Myself and a good friend bought the Dolmar 5100 and have been very impressed. It took a couple of tanks to loosen up but they really scream.

Wow! that was fast and extremely detailed! What an awesome site. I would like to hear from people who have ran this saw. 11 horse! I might have to start back on the popeye diet....no they recalled the spinach....steroids....no, they make your testicles shrink..can't afford that. Anyway thanks for the info.

Welcome to Arboristsite Buschlover, I had sold many many Sachs Dolmar 143mx saws the 11 SAE horse power rating is a German rating the true rating is 5.0KW which should be right around 7.0 BHP. Nevertheless this saw is a POWERHOUSE it has tons of torque and loves to eat big trees. Good Luck with this saw it should treat you fine. BTW change the felt fuel filter a couple times a year you would not want her starving for fuel.

As he said, HP SAE are not related at all to the hp/bhp ratings in use today.

5.0 kW is most often 6.8 hp, or 6.7 bhp.

I have a 143 here in the shop and it is a great saw. I find that in stock form it walks away from a stock 066. I have a 36" bar and chain on this saw and it has the power for it plenty.
