I just did a job not that long ago and had been waiting to go back and get the logs with a log truck. The log truck deal never worked out, so somebody whom I had helped helped me with his front end loader and F700 dump truck. The customer had told me that the neighbor wanted some wood... so I went over and talked with the mother and we wound up taking her what amounted to roughly 2 1/2 cords of unsplit wood, until she told us to stop. We also took roughly 7 cords of unsplit wood to this other gentleman 1/2 hr away, because he was the closest dumping spot I had. At the end of the day (we still had another 3+ truckloads of wood left to take out) the customer comes over and says that her neighbor will take the rest of the wood. I said that we gave them wood until we were told to stop, if they want any more they can come get it themselves. So now I have to go back and take out the remaining 3 truckloads of wood... they COULD go next door, but because I am vindictive (yes, I admit it) I am not going to bring it to them.

why sugar coat it

Your full of crap!

I dont get it. The neighbor is helping you out. Saving you time and money. Give them the wood, unless, the only thing that they are saving you is time and you will be turning a profit on the wood.

I don't want referrals from these people, and I never want to work for them or their friends or neighbors again. I just want to finish, get paid, and get out. I'll take them maybe 2 truck loads tomorrow of the nasty crap that is either huge or loaded with nails. The good stuff that is left is going to this guy who just today provided me with 2 other dump spots for chips and wood. I'd rather make him happy than give wood to a neighbor who yelled at us to stop.

Free wood? Stop? Gah! I don't get it. You didn't mention the yelling part till your later post and being slightly dog-like myself do not respond well to having people raise their voices (especially over simple things) over trivialities.
Sheesh! I'd just dump 'em the wood and walk away with my head high man and da check in hand. Sometimes you have to put up with cranky people and let it go, if not for the situation, for your own piece of mind. It sounds funny maybe but I've gone out of my way to please some folks who really didn't deserve it but the bottom line is that it made me feel better by saying in my own mind " I AM better than you AZZdeepcavernouspitofarefusepile!", I sleep very well even if it irked me. :greenchainsaw:

seems to me...........

you forgot you were in westchester county.unless you leave,i'd learn to swallow your pride and learn to deal with these people.i came here to corrupticut from east tennessee and it was a major culture shock but you have to adjust and move on.at least i don't have to listen to GO VOLS! every 5 friggin' seconds.to me it was a more than fair trade.

These people aren't in Westchester. I am not at liberty to get into this in a lot of detail, but there are other things going on which are reasons why I don't want to ever work for these people or their friends again.

Hey, what do you have against people in CT? (I grew up there and moved to OR in '87). Yes, a lot of people are self-important, are snobby-rich or pretend to be and pretentious, but not everyone. You just have to learn how to deal with that type of person. They probably didn't want all that wood because they didn't want to split it, that's all.
