This 12.5HP DR Power F & B Mower became mine through marriage four yrs ago. Wife's former hubby bought it new in 2001 with a std mower deck and blade. He used it a few times for roadside and driveway shoulder clearing at some pasture land. Then it sat as he became seriously ill. In 2007 I changed oil, put in fresh fuel and got it running but had no projects for it to do.
In Feb. '08 we had a tornado hit part of our town knocking area power out for ten days and we had no generator. The next year 2009 we had two ice storms three weeks apart and another power loss so we bought the DR Generator accessory. Our loss of frozen and fresh food could justify that purchase. But the battery was not stable and that meant the DR sat in the garage.
It's Tecumseh Enduro electric start engine would start if it had a fresh battery. I bought three b's in this three year span. Then I thought we could use a two-edge HD blade plus the weed trimmer head and a spool of heavy duty string (one spool yields 45-21" strings). Last but not least I bought a $20 Schumacher battery maintainer from W-M. Now I have a heavy weeding job to do, got the machine in tip top shape yesterday and it starts easily. It is loaded on the trailer and here goes! I am so glad I didn't give up on this ten year old equipment (PTL)!
