I have tried searching to no avail. I thought I read here (or somewhere) that somebody had a part number for an induction fan assembly complete with the flap to close the air off to the furnace. Any one with that info or who can point me in the right direction? We are looking to replace one without the flapper part.
thanks in advance,
dave

You are looking for a Dayton #1TDN7 (115 volt) or a #1TDN8 (230 volt)...

Ive been using a bathroom ceiling fan

It has a flap built in it

I like the cfm it provides better than my old dayton. I felt the dayton was too much cfm.

This is on my owb

Im also using a household water heater aquastat to turn it on. They are lots cheaper. Got mine for 8 dollars. Been using this seup for two months. No issues.

We use the flapper assembly from a dryer vent.

It's plumbed inline with the fan and is weighted so it shuts down hard when off. The natural draw would open the flap an inch without the weight on it.

Not shilling for these guys, but in case anybody is wondering I can give a brief review of these guys. Their site kinda sucks, at least the search portion does, but if you poke around you can find that they also sell JUST the solenoid/flap combination: http://www.altheatsupply.com/sd-kit.html. It's much cheaper than the whole assembly, and a good thing to know if your fan has a mount that this model above doesn't fit (mine was a round, 3" port).

I can't say much about their customer service because I never had to reach out, but it was packaged well and shipped quickly. I've had it for 2 years now and my solenoid is buzzing a bit but that's a common failure mode for A/C solenoids and I don't hold it against them. I'll get a replacement just for the solenoid once it finally gives up the ghost. I don't know if they make this, or just resell it, but the kit is made well, at least for what amounts to a bracket, a solenoid, and a piece of silicone rubber. It certainly does the job for me.
