102 if you're running a 7 tooth sprocket.

I'm running an 8 tooth. However, I've had good luck fitting 7-tooth link count loops to an 8-tooth setup. If nothing else, I can remove the clutch and drum and put it together that way. It's pain but doable.

Thanks, Chris B.

I would imagine the bar you have is 3002-000-8041. If this is your bar then Stihl recommends 100 drive links for 3/8. Grande posted it takes 102. I guess it would be better to start long and shorten it if needed.

The Stihl guide is a great reference. It will depend on what edition you have but in the one I have here now the large mount bars are listed on page 39. It shows DL counts for the 3002-000-8041 in both 3/8 and .404

so how many links in a .404 chain for an old 48" oregon roller tip.
Bar fits large mount stihl. Specifically a 090 with star type sprocket???

Smokechaser, can't help on the DL count.

However, I would like to give my thread some closure. Turns out that 100DL was perfect for this bar. Unfortunately, when used as I intended, for milling, the chain quickly burned the tip and only way I could run it was to loosen it so much that the chain would barely stay on the bar. So, I called up Jeff S. and got a 36" GB sprocketnose bar. I posted the results on my milling thread, which I hope to have more to add to soon.

Thanks, Chris B.
