Drought vs Late Watering

Hi, I am in Sturgeon Bay, WI. We are in a mild to moderate drought: http://www.drought.unl.edu/dm/monitor.html. I have been watering 4-7 foot balsam fir trees for two months (planted 6 yeras ago) , about every 10 days, and also 10-15 foot newly transplanted pines and Balsam and Fraser Fir trees. I wonder if I should keep watering due to drought OR should I stop so no more new growth occurs, which would be prone to frost damage?? As I stated, the trees have been adequately watered thru the summer. thanks, tom

Keep Irrigating

Maintain irrigation as long as drought conditions prevail, tapering off as fall progresses and temps cool. After the first hard freeze, irrigate once more, heavily.
