Are there any tricks for running a dual powerhead csm? Do the saws have to be identical? What are the pros and cons?

The power heads don't need to be identical but the max rpm rating should be close. If not the higher rpm saw could over rev. the lower rpm saw. I would put the lower horse power head on the outboard end of the double ended bar. You shouldn't need an auxiliary oiler as both power heads will be oiling the bar.

First rule is to make sure both saws are turning the same direction. I mistakenly mounted one saw upside-down the first time I tried it, and trust me, that doesn't work! I've had my Husq 372 on one side and an 044 on the other, and we chewed through a 42" burr oak with no problem. More than matching the saws it is important for the SAWYERS to be matched. With both hands busy and face shields in place, you have limited options for communications, so you have to watch each other and listen to both saws.
