Thanks for all your help. I have located a 2000 International 4900 flatbed with 175,000 miles. Has air brakes and appears to have been taken care of. Has a DT-466 High Torque engine. Has a Fuller 6 speed. Dealer is asking $18,000. Drives very well. Found a 4700 International dump that is a former United Rental truck. It has hydraulic brakes with 27,000 miles. That dealer is asking $28,500. I have only seen pictures of it as it is located 600 miles from me. More money then I wanted to spend for a dump truck. Was looking at pick-up dumps but they will not hold the weight. Any further advice would be very much appreciated. Lon

Id stray away from hydraulic brakes on a truck that size. Air has less problems, more failure proof and stop a lot better.

Even though I have a CDL class A. I was never really a big fan of air brakes. A drilling company I worked for made me get it and I only have 800 miles or so driving A TT. But I got this old 1976 GMC dump truck with a 6-71 detroit diesel and 10 sp road ranger trans. I love the air brakes on it. I set the air brakes get out of the truck and it stays there. Even with seven yards of gravel on the of a hill.
