Hi all hows the weather where you are. Raining cats and dogs here in the central sierra's. I was working on trim for a customer yesterday and he gave me some new rope that has never been opened out of a sealed plastic bag. I do not know the age if it but am guessing late 70s to early 80's it is Mammut Brand dynaflex 74. I was thinking of using it for light rigging slings since I am unsure of the age and if being stored in a garage for that long without ever being used will cause a rope to need to be retired. It is 11 mm and 165 feet long.. Any thoughts about what I should do with it. Thanks.

Send it to me and I'll field test it for a couple of years and then send it back.;) Seriously, dynamic line or semi dynamic line has some usefulness for pull lines on removals. If you don't have a ground man available you can tension the line and anchor it then make your cut and the line will maintain some tension as the tree hinges over. I doubt that any serious degradation has occurred if the line is unfaded. Nevertheless, light rigging applications are prudent.
