Here's a slick toy I got for 5 bucks on clearance at walmart:

Were' 3rd generation tree guys and my son's learning the trade, and as we still do rope and saddle, I figured I'd teach him the safer way. Now, I can spot him on the ascent. The thing's pretty darn accurate and I can hit a fork at 60ft up, no probs.

Thanks for the welcome! Oh yes, slick tool. I've mounted a fishing reel to my dummy launcher and it works admirably. I think Sherrill's setup must be the cat's pajamas to get the forestry guys up into Redwoods out west!

Its for real then

I thought you might be sandbagging at first there; it looks rather phallic...
I would rather pack something like that as it looks more portable then a big shot and pole.
