This saw just went for 305.00. I tried to get my dad to get it and his best bid was 250.00. Tighter than a tick in a fruit press, poor fella.
Anyways, was this a good deal in your opinion? I know the sawking has good feedback and I've bought from him before. Just wondering about the saw at that price and at that stage in its life. Definately was used for its purpose.

You'r dad would have outbid me. The 2100 was a good saw, but it's like carrying a refrigerator with handle bars by the end of the day. It's definitely a young man's saw. When I was packing a 2100, I went to the then new 288 and increased my production. :)

No, I was talking about using the saw for felling trees. The 2100 would probably be a good saw for milling. I built a band saw mill for what little milling I do. I think that some of the newer saws have a lot better power to weight ratio if your logging, but for milling I guess the weight wouldn't be that critical. Thats out of my expertise.

Hay Gum neck where in Chesapeake do you live I live in the Hickory section by the Nc line.

Neighbors

We must be neighbors. Live in Hickory as well.

Saw would have been used in an Alaskan mill.

husky 2100

That 2100 would have been great for an alaskan saw mill what size do you have and what are you going to slab with it.

2100 On Ebay

Tks. I've got em on my watch list.
I use a brand new Husq-385xp,36"bar,Bailey's ripnchain. So far have used on white pine and loblolly pine. Satisfied with it so far.

gumneck,
You done any milling lately? We should get together and have a milling race. Stihl 066 vs. Husky 385. That would be cool, huh? Later, Roger.

Yep

Have flitch cut some plain ole yellow pine into 2" material to later cut down to 6",8" widths for building a carport and garage I hope. Have it in 16 foot lengths.

Racing.... you'd prob win as I'm just a hack amateur(sp?). I have been wondering, the last time I milled just a few days ago that maybe I need to adjust the saw a little. I've used it just like the Baileys folks sent it. Seems like it was boggin down a little the other day. I'm going to try a new plug. I'll definately let you come over and mill some pine for me..I mean with me and we can call it racing.

gumneck,
I'm an amateur at milling myself. I've only done it a couple of times. When will you be milling next?

Yeah, an amateur with a sooped up nitrous injected hot saw.... :)

Usually my milling is limited to 1/2 a tree here and there when I get the chance b/c I got youngins that are hanging all over me when I get off work. And now my weekends are shot because I've got 8 acres of grapes to prune between now and April 15th(expected bud opening day).

So to finish up what I've got on the ground now is a weekday after-work affair. Once I get that milled I'll drop some more pines.

If your really interested in comparing the saws we can try to pick a day that's good for both of us. I'd be eager to learn from "an amateur" :

Take care.
