well here it is boys. 98cc's of vintage powersaw for 96 bucks. that's less than a buck a cc! i took it out of the box, blew it out and wiped it down just now. the two paint chips on the starter housing came off when i hit it with the air hose. put a 32'' GB titanium on it and it looks pretty cool. the seller said it wouldn't stay running. fresh mix and a 30 second carb adjustment, and whoa baby. this is a screamer of a saw. i dare say it might beat my 066magnum, if i get a loop of square chisel on it. you cannot start this saw without the compression release. here's a couple pics..................

here's the other side. a few scrapes, but i don't think this saw has more than 20 hours, if that. the motor is as tight as new, and the piston/sleeve look perfect. lucky me.

P-62 decals on a Poulan P-655? Hmmm. Looks like the color is off for a Pioneer. The Pioneer cylinders were made by Mahle and the Poulan cylinders by Gilardoni, which were more desirable. The trick on hopping those saws up is to get the thin ring piston and a larger carburetorm since the intake is directly on the crankcase. Great saw for 96$.

actually it's a pioneer/partner, apparently made when pioneer was aquired by partner, and as you said, the predessesor to the poulan 655. believe me, i have seen a lot of vintage saws, and this is exactly how it came out of the factory. the color/shade of vintage saws will vary, as i think they used many types of paint, some good, some not so good. this saw surely don't need no hopping up. it is very strong as is. but, i'm no racer, just like to hear vintage saws sing their song. been thinking about it, though. wish there were more races around here where the average joe like me could go and run his vintage saws just for fun.

that thing was one, a wife brought for her husband ,to his horror.he hid it and tried to pretend he never got it.[ i got a pair of binoculars like that]. then somebody died ,devorced or just left it in a closet when he moved.
that shape ,in that condition ,,gotta be somethin like that.:)

Yeah Tim, we gotta get something going a little closer to this side of the lake sometime. Those guys on the west side have two good events at least a year. Unless you want to wander round the countryside to every pancake and chicken festival and enter their 1 event for old saws, you are out of luck. I would love a chance to run the P70, Mac 1-51, and 47 all in one day.
