In my opinion Echo makes a great trim saw. I am familiar with them and use them daily. We run huskies for big saws. But I am seeing more larger echos on the store shelves lately. Is there any input on them? I am looking for something that will handle a 28 inch bar or so.

I don't know what type of wood you are cutting but I would recomend: 066 Stihl or 395 Husky. You really can't go wrong with either of these and they should be able to handel what you through at them.

Cool, Brian. I've never had an Echo. I'm gonna get one of my contracters to buy one, he's been curious about them, also.
They are a lot cheaper.
But can the larger one pull a 16" bar? I gotta go 16, NO WAY I could go 14, or even worse, 12. I can't imagine a 12" bar.:dizzy:

I have been leanin twards a 372xp. I can get parts for huskies for a VERY reasonable price.lol I have an older echo 3000 of my own that runs awesome. I bought it new and was always happy with it. The newer saws have the carb limiter adjustment screws and are set up for california emissions. In my opinion they do not perform as well as the older ones, but if I had to replace my small saw today, thats whay I would get. I am trying to figure out how to tune the newer saws to run like the older ones if anybody has any input on the subject. First the screen comes off the muffler. It seems the limiters prevent proper tuning, but removing the limiters subjects the screws from turning out of adjustment on their own. Ideas anyone?

No offense to Danny, But who is he? A dealer? Does he sell to the public? Do you need to know a password or something?

I cannot believe no one has suggested the Dolmar 7900. :D
I have an Echo CS750EVL ( 78cc ). I have not had it long enough to say how good it is, but the little I have used it ( with a 28" bar 3/8 chisel, skip, in red Oak) Seems pretty good. Since I rebuilt the carb etc...,starts on the 1st or 2nd pull every time. Good torque. Seems quite well built. Heavy as a car battery. The newer ones are lighter, but as someone else mentioned, pricey. If I was going to buy new: Dolmar, Husky, John Deere ( efco) Stihl. In that order.
The John Deere could well be the best saw for the money. Really.

FWIW I have an Echo 670 that I got last year. Like most saws it got better the more it was ran. It came with a 24" bar. I think a 28" would be to much to run all the time. I have an 18" for mine and it tears it up pretty good with that. The saw is about to be a back up or sold or go to my brother though. Bigger better things on the way :D
