This is a really clean saw that Ive had for a couple years, I find it very handy, but always felt like it had a little more to give. The piston looks brand new, I think it's a very low hour saw. I cant see how to open up the muffler without soldering or welding tools. Does this have a catalytic converter? I cant see an easy way to open it up with the tools I lack. Any one ever messed with these mufflers? I think the 306, 341 and 346 may have the same muffler? Thanks for you brain

I'd guess no cat given the saw's age and thickness (or thinness)
of the muffler. Can you see anything looking in the muffler inlet or outlet?

Echo uses a circular CAT element that you can readily see when looking inside the muff, but I doubt it ever had one in the first place as the saw is too old. Open up the outlet a bit and be happy.

What I do if I remove one is either buy a non CAT muffler (Echo offers a non CAT muffler for later model saw)s or I grind off the folded over seam, remove the CAT and open up the outlet and TIG weld it back together.
