I came across a fella who is unfortunately (for him) in the midst of a divorce, consequently, he is selling a lot of his posessions. One of the things he is selling is an Echo CS-520. The saw is literally brand new...that is to say that it is an 2006 model and has not cut a stick of wood, the saw is spotless and runs great. He selling it for $225, it comes with a soft case, extra chain, spare air filter and two spark plugs as well as all the paperwork. The saw still has almost all of the 5yr warranty left on it.

Typically, I'm not inclined to buy an Echo...but this seems like too good of a deal to pass up.

What does the AS panel think?

Thanks,
OLY-JIM

Good post Jim,

I'm curious myself as I was thinking of making an offer to one of my customers who had one on his bench along with a 510evl.

i'd take it

keep it at the house for home use
and whatever emergency situation may arise

Emergency Use!

Yeah that's kinda what I was thinking...It would probably be my truck tool box saw...never know when you'll need a saw. Of course, I'd keep it nice and comfortable!

Echo Pricing

Good post Jim,

I'm curious myself as I was thinking of making an offer to one of my customers who had one on his bench along with a 510evl.

The local Echo dealer prices this saw at $399.99 brand new, and without any accessories.

Which would make it a heck of a deal, yes? Though not like a 50$ desperation fire sale thing, it sounds like its not even broken in yet (not a stick of wood, well ya think??!!), I'd scoop it even if it is, as others say, just for a spare! :D :D (ya right, they'd be running the snot out of it and saving their babies lolol) BAD DOG!!--- :deadhorse: ---..Oh ****, sum 1 stole me dog and replaced it wit a blind lazy horse....oh well *sigh*, I've had worse days.

My 0.024$ worth fer the end of my day.

Serge

Edit after thought> Who else is giving 5yr warantees??????
Nother Edit> and why is my spelings so badge?

Who's Tried It?

Has anyone actually had their hands on a 520? How does it run? The saw comes with an 18" bar, has a skip chain on it, and feels pretty good in the hands. Personally, I've not had any experience with the brand. Any help would be appreciated.

At the moment, I'm on the verge of calling the guy and telling him that I'll take it.

Just buy it and run it Jim! I know where you shop so I know you can spend some cash!!!

and if you don't like it you and me can meet up in the woods and abuse it for awhile :chainsaw:

I have a CS510 it's one sweet saw. You might need to adjust the carb when you get it, most are to lean from the factory. It really wakes up after 7 or 8 tanks of gas, has 2 rings and metal case. Steve

Echo - sorry, no.......... :givebeer:

They don't state the power output of the saws anymore, and that is for a good reason...........:jester: :jester:

Old fashioned cunstruction also......

I've Done Some Read'n

Well...It's about 6am out here on the West Coast, I'm going to head down in a couple hours and pick this saw up. I'll posts some pics of it when I get it.

I've done some reading on the saw and thus far my impression is a good one. Based on what I've learned, I wouldn't describe the saw as a top performer in the class...rather a very reliable, respectable performer that seems to get the job done. Time will tell? I wasn't able to find any HP ratings for the saw. Nonetheless, Echo claims it's one of their commercial grade saws. Does this mean commercial grade by Echo standard or industry standard...We'll see?

As always, thanks for the input! I'm still interested in hearing about this saw. Please keep the input coming.

Best Regards,
OLY-JIM

Troll, have you run the saw before? I assume that you must have run it...since your answer is so definately against the saw. What's the down and dirty?

Or...are you basing your opinion on what you've read? Just curious.

Thanks!
