I bought the EDT8 tach from Stihl,

Hmm. The response time is relatively slow. During the first several seconds of WOT, I have you clocked at about a fairly steady 12,600. Contrast this with the tach output, which was still equilibrating to what it was measuring... At the end of the clip, just before you lower the tach out of sight, the saw was idling at a fairly steady 4,100. The tach output at the lower RPMs seemed to stabilize much quicker, given our better speed agreement.

Geez, that tach is so very similar to the tachs I had on my ultralight airplane in the 90's. Sense wire hookup and all is exactly the same.

Now that I'm reminiscing, it was a pair of 15 HP solo engines. Wonder if they were ever used in any hotsaws? :monkey:
