On cl, a efco 152 (52cc), new in box for $319. 20 in bar. Seems I had heard good things about them, anyone have any input?

I highly agree with everything said up to here and have a bit of experience with the 152 and similiar Efco's myself, but would also consider your ability to service or have the saw serviced and the parts availubility. Spending an additional $100 probably will not get you a better handling and performing chainsaw but in some cases could be worth it for good reliable service if you need to depend on keeping it going when your chainsaw needs come up. If you have a backup saw it may not be a big deal say you have to wait a week for a part or something like that. Also if the money is in the bank and you can afford to invest, it is hard to beat the resale value of almost any Stihl.

Last fall I gave away a new 152 as a prize at a local GTG. Local logger won it. He is a Husky man and loves the 346 NE. He came to the shop today after running it over with his skidder.

He said for spruce the 346 had better handling, and throttle responce, but he wanted the 152 fixed because he found it stronger in firewood. He said he tried both with the same chain and in 12-18 in hardwood the 346 would not hang with the 152.

He wanted the 152 fixed, $40.00 for a used tank/handle assembly and he was out the door, happy.

Efco 152

I did quite a bit of research on this saw 1 1/2 years ago. I ended up buying a 152. I am completely happy I did. I use it for firewood, all oak. Everyone who uses this saw is impressed. It has quality and a good feel to it. All the guys I cut with use Stihl, and all have said that they would buy a Efco 152. If you have a chance to buy one, do it. You won't be sorry. I am an Efco fan because of this saw.
